The NYBBGB was founded in 1952 by Dr Denis Wright. Dr Denis, as he was known, died in 1967 following a lifetime of great service to brass bands – as a composer, conductor and adjudicator. His wife, Maud Wright served as the first Treasurer of the NYBBGB, continuing in this role for forty years. On her death in 2000 she left a significant legacy to the NYBBGB. This wonderful support from Dr Denis and Maud, over the years, has supported young musicians to develop their skills in conducting, performance, composing and musicianship.
