Our Policies

The National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain (NYBBGB) is dedicated to nurturing young brass and percussion musicians from across the UK. As with any organisation, it faces a variety of risks, from financial uncertainties to safeguarding concerns. To effectively govern against these risks, the NYBBGB has implemented a suite of policies aimed at ensuring the safety, well-being, and success of its members and staff.

One of the cornerstone policies of the NYBBGB is its Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy. This policy outlines the organisation’s commitment to creating a safe and supportive environment for young musicians, free from any form of abuse or harm. It establishes clear procedures for reporting and addressing safeguarding concerns, as well as guidelines for appropriate behaviour and interaction between members and staff. By prioritising the welfare of its members, the NYBBGB demonstrates its dedication to upholding the highest standards of care and protection.

In addition to safeguarding, the NYBBGB recognises the importance of diversity, equality, and inclusion within its ranks. As such, it has developed a comprehensive Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Policy aimed at promoting fairness and respect for all members, regardless of their background or identity. This policy not only helps to prevent discrimination and prejudice within the organisation but also fosters a sense of belonging and acceptance among its diverse membership.

Financial stability is another key area of concern for the NYBBGB, given the costs associated with running an organisation of its size and scope. To mitigate financial risks, the NYBBGB has established robust financial policies and procedures designed to ensure transparency, accountability, and responsible stewardship of resources. In addition to internal risks, the NYBBGB also faces external challenges, such as changes in funding or regulatory requirements.

To navigate these complexities, the organisation has developed a policy framework for communication and advocacy. This framework outlines the NYBBGB’s priorities and objectives in engaging with policymakers and stakeholders at the local, regional and national levels, helping to ensure that its interests are represented and its voice is heard in relevant decision-making processes.

Furthermore, the NYBBGB recognises the importance of environmental sustainability and has adopted policies aimed at reducing its carbon footprint and promoting eco-friendly practices. From minimising waste and conserving resources to supporting sustainable transportation options, these policies reflect the organisation’s commitment to environmental stewardship and responsible citizenship.

In times of crisis or emergency, the NYBBGB relies on its crisis management approach to guide its response and ensure business continuity. By proactively planning for contingencies and establishing clear lines of communication and decision-making, the NYBBGB can effectively manage crises and minimise disruption to its operations. Ultimately, the suite of policies implemented by The National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain serves as a framework for governance, helping to mitigate risks and safeguard the organisation’s mission, values, and stakeholders. By upholding the highest standards of integrity, accountability, and responsibility, the NYBBGB demonstrates its commitment to excellence in all aspects of its operations, ensuring a bright and sustainable future for generations of young brass and percussion musicians to come.
