Now in its third edition, The NYBBGB Young Conductors’ Competition 2025/26, supported by British Army Music, offers a rare opportunity to see four outstanding finalists, aged 20 to 30, compete for one career-defining prize: to become Assistant Conductor of The NYBBGB Youth Band for their 2026 Summer Course and Concert.
What to expect
🎼 Each finalist will rehearse one of four iconic brass band works with The NYBBGB in front of a live audience
🎼 Judging by an elite panel including:
Major Craig Bywater – Chief Instructor at the Royal Military School of Music
Dr Robert Childs – distinguished figure in brass education and performance with a five-decade legacy at The NYBBGB
🎼 A special concert by British Army Music during the judges’ deliberation – featuring the superb musicians of The Royal Corps of Army Music
