The NYBBGB Open Day 2025

9:15am to 4:30pm, 18th April 2025

Are you aged 12 to 18 and play brass or percussion?

Come and spend a day with The NYBBGB this April!

On Friday 18th April we are throwing open our doors to invite any young person aged 12 to 18 who plays a brass band instrument or percussion to spend a day with The NYBBGB during their Easter residential course at Pangbourne College, Pangbourne Road, Reading, RG8 8LA. Registration is free.

During the day, you will get to work with one of our world-class music tutors in sectionals and play alongside the current members of The NYBBGB during rehearsals. You will also get the opportunity to perform with The NYBBGB as part of a short concert, under the direction of Col David Barringer MVO MBE.

This year’s tutors leading sectionals and rehearsals are as follows:

  • Cornets: Jamie Smith (Grimethorpe Colliery Band) and Mark Wilkinson (Foden’s Band)
  • Flugels and horns: Helen Williams (Cory Band) and Emily Evans (Flowers Band)
